Gemini 3 and Gemini 2.5 - Google DeepMind (2025-2026)

Google's Gemini model family advanced rapidly through 2025-2026, with Gemini 2.5 Pro/Flash (mid-2025) and Gemini 3 Pro/Deep Think (November 2025) establishing Google as a leading frontier lab. Gemini 3.1 Pro followed in February 2026, topping the LMArena leaderboard.

Gemini 2.5 introduced a 2 million token context window - double the competition - and "thinking" capabilities where the model shows its reasoning process. Gemini 2.5 Flash generates at 250 tokens/second, making it one of the fastest frontier models.

Gemini 3, released November 2025, added Deep Think mode for complex reasoning and scored 88% on the AIME 2025 math benchmark and 74.2% on LiveCodeBench. Gemini 3.1 Pro (February 2026) further refined these capabilities.

The models are natively multimodal - processing text, images, audio, and video as first-class inputs without conversion layers.

The Gemini family demonstrates that the frontier is not a one-company race. Google's combination of massive scale (DeepMind's research depth + Google's infrastructure) keeps pushing the entire field forward. The 2M context window opened new use cases - analyzing entire codebases, processing book-length documents, and multi-hour video understanding.

Gemini 3 reaching 750 million users by March 2026 shows that frontier AI is mainstream consumer technology.
